Girls Night(s) Out
This week found me heading into Center City on Tuesday to meet a friend who got tickets to a Girl’s Night event, in which free cocktails and shopping were in abundance. Me say “no” to free drinks and shopping? Not even on a school night. After a couple of the free drinks, the purchase of some make up, jewelry and (of course) a new springtime hat, we decided dinner was needed. It seemed and was concurred the following day that the event organizers may well have doctored the drinks a bit… probably so we might buy more, but it really just left us dizzy and off-kilter.
In our doctored state, we threw together plans for a Friday Girls Night in Conshy–it was meant to distract me from the medical procedure that I was supposed to have on Thursday (which was rescheduled due to an office “oversight”) and ended up being a way to distract me from the medical procedure now scheduled for Monday afternoon.
And it was the first time, in a long time, more than two of us made it out on the same night. But, like Tuesday night, something unfavorable always enters into a Girls Night. While the drinks, this time, were perfect, not all the company at the bar was even remotely close. In fact, the dude… let’s call him Mr. Creepy… was one and the same as who I had met out at lunch one random day. Let’s just say, I’m not sure in what world asking someone if they can watch you pee actually ever works as a pick up line, but it had the same nauseating effect as whatever was put into my drinks on Tuesday.
Oh, and just so you boys all know, you cannot break into a Girls Night successfully–not even if you do have a great line (or great anything). And we do talk to each other, so leaving one a note “just in case” it doesn’t quite pan out with one of the other of us–well, Mr. Creepy, it’s just not cool (and since you couldn’t figure out how your coat and bag turned up so quickly, I sought it out–so you could leave as quickly as it turned up).
Despite the blip in the night, it was a nice distraction to the current situation I am in… of which I may decide to write about later (we’ll see how it all turns out). Sometimes, it is just enough to have a lot of drinks and have the girls around to laugh with when nothing else seems to be going right. For that, I’m quite grateful.
Mahalo.
