Spring cleaning in July–that’s right. Ending up with a pulmonary embolism in April meant I just wasn’t up to any major type of cleaning. In fact it was almost a full two months before I had the kind of energy needed to accomplish the feat. Ok, maybe 6 weeks, but the first line of business at that point was a trip to Niagara Falls… I digress.
In the time it took to recoup I had plenty of opportunity to stare at the things surrounding me… and make some fairly big decisions. Week 45 as only a small part of the overall project, which started in week 44 and continues into weeks 46 & 47 (my stamina is mostly back but things take time when waiting on others and having to work and such in there, too).
Part of this project is not only looking at myself in photos daily, but looking at my surroundings… and sometimes it takes that kind of activity to make you really see things that weren’t there before. Applying to myself the notions I’ve learned in the better part of a year: less make up, less hair product, more color & simpler lines–applying these to the rest of my life meant a larger dive into minimalism. And that has been what my spring cleaning adventures have been about. A place I may not have gotten to without this journey, but one I’m grateful for–less has truly become more.
