Solsticing: A Poem

Solsticing

I imagine the breeze
tropical as it washes
the sting of the sun
for only a moment
my freckles dance.
There is no hiding them now.

Another summer another lover
maybe some-body with your smile
and eyes that come alive
when we make our play:

“I want forever.”
And I say: “Baby, ain’t no such thing.”

beach fueled nights with iced soy lattes
and bonfire marshmallow kisses
sweet sticky sugar melts between our lips

Wild wavy hair crashes
silkily around this sea side moment
laughing under a cornflower
moon absent of stars
wrapped in your arms
breathing in only this moment
with no yesterdays left
making me feel this way
in a place where even
the sea doesn’t know tomorrow.
